Al-Anon Reviews
Al-anon is a group founded on the prinicples of the 12-step program that is exclusively for those whose lives have been affected by someone elses drinking. Al-anon members are parents, spouses, friend, employers and employees of alcoholics.
Alcoholism is a disease that affects everyone involved in an alcoholic's life, not just the drinker. Family members and friends react to the drinker's behaviour, may experience guilt and shame by association and in general get caught up in the societal damage that an alcoholic generates.
Membership in Al-anon is free and anonymous. Members are asked to contribute what they can afford to help defray costs and the organization prides itself on being self-sustaining. There is no pressure to speak at meetings and most members find that they are helped by the support and by knowing that they are not alone in their trials.
